Life is a little overwhelming right now

I haven't quite yet disappeared from the face of the earth. This new work has just been utterly consuming. I don't know how you 9-5 folks do it. So much crap, so little time.

My dream of an underpaid office job is one where I have lots of time to do online shopping, write inane things on my blog, chat with my friends on MSN, all on company time. So all you people who have my dream job, count yourselves lucky. I'm stuck with a company that doesn't allow access to MSN, Blogger, even EMAIL outside your work email.

The curse of the Paperwork God has struck, I'm swamped with crazy amount of "get approval for this", "find a serial no. for that", "signatures from manager must go here", "wrong name on contract there".

Although I must say, I'm forgetting how it feels to be bored. That must be a good thing right?

To new smells

After faithfullly using J'adore for years, I've jumped ship and opened my nose to something else.

Soft, slightly powdery, it makes me smell like femininity and grace personifed. The peppery notes just disappear, once it hits skin.

No citrusy, fresh floral cliches. I'm in love.

I had the best Sunday last weekend. We ate too much japanese, drank too much champagne, and took too many cigarette breaks.

We talked and talked, laughed and laughed into the afternoon. Then we staggered off to get dessert. Macaroons were what we wanted and macaroons were what we got. A bag of 2 dozen(!!) little puffs and 2 venti lattes later, we were sugar-high and so very stuffed.

We bought sheets, we bought shoes, we bought a new vase, we bought chairs, we whispered and giggled at too many things. We ended the day back home, sitting on the stairs, talking to the dog and playing scrabble.

Mosquito Squadron 112

There are too many living things in my house. One dog, too many plants and 28 fish. It started with TT wanting to set up some kind of pond. So we tripped out to buy some water plants. Being the excessive consumers that we are, we bought too many water plants. That meant we had quite a few pots of green living in stagnant water in the courtyard.

And the mosquitoes came to visit. They bite me, only me. Its so unfair; I’m NOT the one walking around the house half naked all the time, exposing metres of bare flesh. It was getting to a point where I was wearing insect repellent in my own home.

So we had to get fish to eat the mosquito larvae. I bought 5 tiny orange fish with little black spotted tails and let them in the pool. They were only $1 each! The pond is so big and the 5 fish seemed so lonely, so I bought 5 more.

The next day, TT went to the neighbourhood aquarium and spotted an incredible bargain. 18 fish for $2!

And that’s how we ended up with 28 fish. We call them Mosquito Squadron 112.
